What is going on with 32xx Rolex movements. Hey folks, I wrote about the Explorer 124270 a few years back, then I wrote about the Exp II 226570 as well, but I see it all over and I am really struggling to understand how Rolex does not fix it. The 32xx is running horribly compared to the 31xx.
I have one of the newer (1 yr old) 32xx movement Rolexes and it keeps great time. Something like +1s/week if that. My other Rolex has the 31xx movement and is 30+ yrs old. and that's more like +10s/week. My new JLC Moon which cost more than both is more like -3s/day. While there have been some comments (from Bas, as I recall) that fewer 32XX movements seem to be in need of servicing, I am not aware of any specific determination of the cause of, much less the solution for, the problem.
The 32xx is simply a bit weak on amplitude, even when it is in order. If your warranty is up and you send it for a service, you'd hope they would update the movement with the new part(s) as part of the service, without charging you extra. Need more people like you promoting the issues with the 32XX movement, savvy people would get their faulty movement repaired under warranty and immediately sell it.
