I understand that only a very small amount is needed. With vintage pieces, plenty of times. Can't remember a time when it happened with a "modern" watch that I've owned. Either way, it's a simple repair. Pull the stem, lock it on a pin vice, screw on the crown and tighten down. Put the stem back into the movement and it's done.
I gently pulled the crown out and the entire stem came out. I put the crown back in right after and it seems to have reattached and is winding, and I can change time/date. Is this an issue with setting that needs to be serviced? I was changing the date to the 1st and now the crown won't screw back in. I've been wanting to get it serviced but I have no local AD or boutique shops near me (Anchorage, AK.) I was at my AD the other day to check out the Aquaracer 500m auto. I unscrewed the crown to set the watch and to my and sales person's surprise the entire crown and stem came out of the watch! The salesman was quite embarrassed.

When winding, I heard rough noises and stopped. Then as I tried to pull out the crown, it popped out of the case entirely with ease. If the shop that serviced the watch didn't replace the crown, it is highly unlikely they will repair it under warranty. The watch is from Watchco, and there won't be an Omega warranty, so Omega won't warranty it. Watchco bought the crown from somebody.
